The path
The path
José holds a fisheries biology background (Humboldt State) and has guided professionally since the late 1990s. Chile On The Fly has operated since 2003.
Today his full-time focus is on Chilean Patagonia: guiding for Magic Waters across Magic Waters Lodge, River of Dreams Basecamp, and Patagonia Baker Lodge.
Alaska experience
José also guided Alaska lodge seasons from 2008 to 2023. Those years sharpen how he reads water, runs a day, and coaches anglers of every skill level — experience brought home to Coyhaique.
